Today is World Poetry Day, a day dedicated to supporting poets and poetry around the world.
I like reading and also writing poems, but it has been quite a while I wrote a poem. But luckily for me, I have my hand written collection, some go as far as 2004.
Every mother sometimes has words to say, these words creep into her heart and the only way she can express them is to write them.
Her desires, prayers, dreams and hopes for her children sometimes when scribbled will make great poetry. She expresses those words in a way no one else can. So motherhood sometimes can bring out the poet in you.😊😊😊.
Today, I will share a poem I wrote shortly after having my first child.
LAUGHTER IN YOUR EYES
I see the innocence in your smile.
I see the purity of your soul.
‘Tis the laughter in your eyes,
That soothes all of my worries and pains.
I see joy written all over you.
I see the light only you radiate.
‘Tis the laughter in your eyes,
That gives me hope for a brighter tomorrow.
I see the way you make me smile.
I see the beauty you brought to my life.
‘Tis the laughter in your eyes,
That gives me courage and wings to fly.
I see the way you lift me up.
I see that I have been made for more.
‘Tis the laughter in your eyes,
That gives me faith and strength to become.
I see it when I look into your eyes.
I see the laughter you put in my heart.
‘Tis the laughter in your eyes,
That I will cherish for the rest of our days.
