Many years ago, before marriage and the kids, I used to write poetry. They were words that flowed from my heart, my life, my questions, my thoughts, my environment, my imagination, my relationship with God and the people in my life. And then I took a long break.
This year I am hoping to get back to writing poetry as the words come to heart. Perhaps those words will bless a soul and inspire hope and faith in someone’s heart.
Inspiring Hope Poetry Collection – Afraid!
“Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are our own fears.”― Rudyard Kipling
Afraid!
Of the spooky shadows.
From yesterday past.
Of the quiet whispers.
From unseen beings.
Afraid!
Of the person in the mirror
A broken reflection of her true self
Of the woman on the other side.
A wounded soul in pursuit of vengeance.
Afraid!
Of the lies that hold her captive.
And the betrayers of her innocence.
Of the burden of her choices.
And the fruitless journey to nowhere.
Afraid!
Of the many battles in her tomorrow.
Not knowing if her strength will fail.
Of the deafening sound of defeat.
Not knowing if she will make it through.
Afraid!
Of this journey called life.
The pathways, detours and crossroads.
Of this drive to destiny.
The unseen, unknown and the untold.
Afraid!
Unfasten the chains of the past.
Untangle the web of guilt and pain.
Unbreak the heart once shattered.
Unbecome the woman you hate to see.
Afraid!
Silence the negative voices speaking in your head.
Serenade your soul with the truth of who you are in God.
Subdue the enemy with an awareness of your true identity.
Step into tomorrow with confidence as the king’s daughter.
Afraid!
Turn to God.
Fear not.
Do not be Afraid.
He says.
“Fear not tomorrow. God is already there.” – Ruth Graham

Fear is one of the things I have struggled with the most in my life. I have really started trusting God with the good and the bad. I know that He truly loves me, even when hard things happen. Love the beauty of your writing!
