“Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share.” Mark 6:41 NLT
The Miracle of Feeding 5000
The people were gathered and there was a need. The disciples of Jesus became helpless at this point. And after a little probing, five loaves of bread and two fishes surfaced from the crowd of women, children and men seated. But how possible was it to feed a crowd with the little they had?
What Did Jesus Do With The Five Loaves of Bread and Two Fishes
Jesus took what the disciples had found, the five loaves of bread and two fishes. And here is what he did with it.
1. He looked towards heaven.
2. He blessed what he had.
3. He broke the bread and began to distribute it.
3 Lessons from The Miracle of Feeding 5000 in the Bible
1. Jesus acknowledged God first and turned his entire focus on God.
Do you acknowledge God in every season of life and before making any decision? Is your focus on God or on the things you see and feel in the moment?
2. Jesus blessed and thanked God for what he had.
Thanksgiving should always be a daily part of your life. You learn to show gratitude when it is little and when it is surplus. Did you know that gratitude is the power behind increase and multiplication? Learn to be thankful in the good and bad times? Jesus thanked God for what he had in that moment.
3. Jesus took the five loaves of bread and two fishes and began to break it. His last action was a complete act of faith and trust in God.
When Jesus broke that little in his hands, he trusted that God will give the increase. And indeed God caused that little to be more than enough. In fact they had extra food after 5000 men excluding women and children were fed.
Jesus understood the principle of using what you have to create possibilities, solve problems, deliver solutions, empower and bless others.
He knew that it is always about trusting God wholly with the little you have in your hands, and taking those steps of faith that will eventually lead you to a place of more than enough.
So, what are you doing with the little you have today?
Use the little you have today to make a difference, give hope, make an impact, light up your world and watch God give the increase.
Will you trust God with your little today and take that step of faith?
