A Short Prayer for Mothers

Mothers are a gift to every generation. I pray that this short prayer for mothers encourages you as you pray it today.

As a mother, you have been given the rare privilege of sometimes birthing, nurturing and raising children. There are also women who have chosen to adopt and raise children not born by them. We also have single mothers who by choice or by reason of the loss of their spouse have been left to raise their children alone.

These mothers need all the encouragement that they can get as they embrace this journey of molding hearts and building legacies. The truth is that mothers across borders have shared experiences and challenges. And as a mother, you can choose to make God’s word your anchor and let prayer help you navigate the sometimes-murky waters of motherhood.

Remember that God made you a mother. He trusts that you can embrace and raise that child abandoned by his birth parents. He knows that you are graced to love and raise that child with special needs. God knows that you will teach your children about him and lead them in his ways. And so God made you a mother.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.- Proverbs 31:25

Dear Father,

May I always hear you when you call my name.

May my fears never overwhelm me, and my inadequacies burden me to a point of defeat.

May my ears always be open to your divine guidance and instruction for my life.

May I find courage to always follow your will.

May I always put you first even when I do not understand.

May I always discern what you are doing in every season of my life.

May my eyes always look to you and what you want to accomplish through me as a mother.

May I stand strong in faith when the storms of life come gushing in on me.

May I be a yielded vessel in your hands to accomplish your will on the earth.

May I always trust you with my life and future and that of my family.

May my strength never fail me even as I carry out your divine plan in nurturing and raising these children.

May I always be faithful to your plan and purpose for my life as a mother.
