Mother’s Day is a day set aside to celebrate mothers around the world. Every single day in our families, we are privileged to experience and share in the love, compassion, energy and hard-work mothers bring into the home. These mothers need all the support and encouragement as they navigate the sometimes-deep waters of motherhood. And one great way to do this is by praying for them. Here are 5 Great prayers for Moms this Mother’s Day.

On this Mother’s Day, let us take a moment to honor and celebrate the women in our lives who have raised us, taught us, shared their faith in God with us and poured into us from the deepest parts of their hearts. It is a good day to appreciate that woman who nurtured your gifts, encouraged and pointed you to Jesus.

Motherhood can be said to be a sacred calling, a divine privilege given by God himself. Whether you became a mother through birthing or adoption, or you are a single mom, grandmother or mother-in-law. Remember that it is a journey of sacrificial love, endless giving, unwavering faith, boundless grace, shaping souls and destinies, leaving a legacy of faith and God’s love in the hearts of our children.

1. Mothers are clothed with strength and dignity

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. – Proverbs 31:35

2. Mothers are a gift and blessing to families

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. – Proverbs 31:28–29

1. A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Moms

Lord, I thank you for every mother reading this right now. Thank you for the gift of mothers and the unique role they play in our lives. Thank you for being a sure anchor in troubled times.

Thank you for how you are carrying her through her journey and seasons of motherhood. And for every mother – single, birth mother, mother by adoption, grandmother and mother-in-law, we thank you for the gift of these women in our lives and how they are nurturing, shaping minds and influencing generations right in their homes and relationships every single day.

Thank you for the wisdom you give to them to guide their choices and decisions. Thank you for strengthening their faith in God and giving them abundant grace for their mom journey. Lord, I am so thankful for the gift of mothers and the blessing they are in our lives.

2. A Prayer for Wisdom for Moms

Father, I ask that you fill her with your wisdom. Open her heart to walk in this wisdom that comes from above. Let your wisdom be her guide and guard as she navigates her motherhood journey.

May the fruits of wisdom which include being peaceable, gentle, open to reason, sincere, full of mercy and good fruits be daily seen in her life and actions. She will not walk as one who is unwise but make the best use of her time here on earth.

Lord, fill her entire being with your presence and strength. Make her feet like the feet of a deer, enable her to walk forward with God-confidence on her high places of challenges and responsibility.

Dear God, you are within her and she will not break or fall in times of trouble and difficulty. I pray that she experiences your greatest power even in her weakest moments. May she always know that her strength comes from you alone. Lord, you are the strength of her heart and her portion forever.

I pray for restoration in her body. Heal her broken places and wounded heart. Take away sickness from her midst and give her a sound mind and body. Teach her how to care for and honor her body as God’s temple. Sustain her in sickness and restore her from the bed of illness.

May the son of righteousness arise with healing in his wings for every mom in need of healing in her body. May that same spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead revitalize her cells and body. Lord, give health to her entire body and nourishment to her bones and organs. Give her a sound mind and healthy body to carry out her God given assignment as a mother with ease. 4. A Prayer for Protection and Peace for Moms

Father, cover her with your presence and keep her safe under the shadow of your wings. Surround her with songs of deliverance and be her hiding place to preserve her from every trouble. Walk with her every single day and shield her from the schemes of the wicked.

Lord, I ask that you go before her, be behind her and walk with her every single day. The angel of the Lord encamps around her and her family. Be ever present with her and constantly watch over her and all that is dear to her. Lord, watch over her going out and coming in every single day. No weapon fashioned against her or her loved ones shall not prosper. Save her from the hands of the violent and ungodly. May her steps  be daily ordered away from mishaps and calamity. Thank you for being a guard and protector over her life and family.

Dear God, fill this mother’s heart with your peace. May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. May the peace of Christ rule in your hearts giving you stability in the midst of life’s storms. May God keep your soul and spirit in perfect peace. No more anxiety and tension. No more sleeplessness and restlessness. The spirit of depression takes its exit out of her life from this day forward.

You have peace in God and have overcome the tension and pressures in the world. I pray that the peace of God which transcends all human understanding will guard your mind and heart every single day. The Lord himself blesses you with his peace all the days of your life. Amen!

5. A Prayer for Rest and Renewal for Moms

Father, I pray for every mom who is tired and overwhelmed, whose hands are full, mind rattled and emotions all over the place. Calm her anxious thoughts and meet her in the middle of the mess.

Remind her of the beauty of her work as a mother and show her how to find rest in you. Teach her how to release her worries, plans, agenda and to-do-lists to you and help her to embrace your Holy Spirit as her teacher and guide. Show her those things she needs to let go of and those things she is holding on to in fear. Help her to surrender and release control.

Lord, equip and empower her for this holy calling of motherhood. Renew her mind, spirit, soul and body. Fill her with your peace and let it overflow to all parts of her life.

Guide her on how to set aside time to rest in your presence and be rejuvenated. Teach her how to quiet her mind and connect with you through meditating on your word and prayer. Take away the physical exhaustion, spiritual dryness and emotional fatigue. I thank you for giving her a renewed and rejuvenated mind and body to be the mother that you have called her to be. Amen!
