A Prayer for Your Child’s Future

Children are a gift from God and come from him. It is true that as parents, we are only custodians of this gift God has entrusted into our hands. However, beyond caring for and nurturing these little ones, it is so important to always say a prayer for your child’s future.

What Does the Bible Say About the Future of Your Child?

1. God has plans for your child’s future

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

2. God will secure your child and always keep him safe

You will be secure, because there is hope, and you will look around and lie down in safety, You will lie down without fear, and many will court your favor. Job 11: 18-19

3. God will never leave or forsake your child

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

4. God will keep your child’s hope alive for the future

 Surely there is a future [and a reward], And your hope and expectation will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18

5. God will walk your child through every challenge and difficult season

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Isaiah 43:2-3

6. God will fill your child’s heart with faith to always believe

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love. Psalm 33:18

8. God will set a shield of protection round your child

 But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. Psalm 3:3

9. God will constantly work in the heart and life of your child

 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6

10. God will cause your seed to be mighty upon the earth

 Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Psalm 112:1-2

11. God chose your child before the foundation of the world

 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Ephesians 1:4

12. God will always teach your child

And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. Isaiah 54:13

17. God will cause his face to shine upon your child

The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

18. God will surround your child with his favor

For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

19. God will show your child his ways and guide him in truth

24. God will lead your child along the best pathway for his life

The LORD says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 32:8

25. God will heal your child and give him good health

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Malachi 4:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2

26. God will cause your child to hear his voice

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27

27. God will fill your child with the knowledge of his will

28. God will prolong your child’s life

With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. Psalm 91:16

He asked You for life, and You granted it–length of days, forever and ever. Psalm 21:4

So that you and your children and grandchildren may fear the LORD your God all the days of your lives by keeping all His statutes and commandments that I give you, and so that your days may be prolonged. Deuteronomy 6:2

A Prayer for Your Child’s Future

Father, I thank you for this child (children) you have entrusted into my hands. I know that my child is a gift from you and that he/she belongs to you.

Lord, I release my child’s today and tomorrow into your hands. I may not know what the future holds for my child, but I know the one who owns my child’s future. Therefore, I live confidently knowing that my child’s future is secure in you.

Indeed, you are a father that watches over his children and will never sleep or slumber on them. Thank you for watching over my child’s future. Thank you for keeping his/her future safe and secure in you. Thank you for standing beside my child as a protective shade as he/her walks into the future you have prepared for him/her.

My Lord and my God, I ask that you fill my child with wisdom for his/her today and tomorrow. May wisdom guide every choice he/she will make in the future. May your knowledge penetrate his/her heart and always guide his decisions. Fill him/her with the spirit of discernment that he/she will know what to do concerning his education, career, business, relationships, marriage and parenting in the future. I declare that my child will be aligned with your divine plan and purpose for his/her future even from this moment.

Father, I thank you also for supplying all that my child(children) will need in the future. I declare that he/she will lack nothing. I declare that God’s favour and goodness is in my child’s future. Your blessings abound mightily in my child’s future. I declare that my child (children) will never be disadvantaged in life. He/she walks into his future knowing God as his source and provider.

I pray and ask Lord that my child (children) will never fall victim to another man’s errors, mistakes and negligence in the future. Their minds and bodies will not be broken and burdened by sickness and disease as they walk into their future.

Thank you for setting my child free from every mental illness, depression, life-threatening illness and accident that seeks to leave my child weak, broken and helpless in the future. I speak good health into my child’s body today and for the future. I declare wholeness in my child’s mind, spirit and body from this day forward even as he walks into the future you have prepared for him/her.

Thank you Lord for satisfying my child with a long and full life on the earth. He/she will not be cut off in his/her prime but will live to fulfill the number of his/her days and see the future you have planned out for him/her.

I declare that my child’s future will not be devoid of God. He/she will embrace, know and love God even more in the future. Thank you for drawing my child nearer to you as he/she walks into the future you have prepared for him/her. Lord, I ask that you fill his/her tomorrow with people, places and things that will always point him/her to you. Create opportunities and moments in his/her life that will lead him/her to accept Christ. I pray also that my child will always hear your voice as he/she journeys through life. Dear God, I as that you follow my child, walk with, and guide my child into the future you desire for him. Amen!
