“But one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12
Letting Go of The ‘I’ Factor in Your Motherhood Walk
As a mother, you are sometimes tempted to live and mother your children based on where you are coming from. This can be as a result of your childhood experiences, your mistakes, your fears, your insecurities and your inadequacies.
There are those moments when your old habits still rule. A wrong mindset is still at work in you, often taking the lead in decision making. Also your past experiences have a firm grip on you and has kept you bound in a place of helplessness.
However, if you will walk in the fullness of God’s true intent of motherhood for your life, you must learn to let go of your former self and step into the person that God truly created you to be.
To become the mother that God has called you to be, requires that you must first come to the realization that the ‘you’ from yesterday has been crucified with Christ. You are not the woman that you used to be. And if you will walk in the fullness of God’s plan for you as a mother, you must learn this truth – It is no longer ‘I’ who lives, but Christ who lives in you.
The ‘I’ in you will leave you broken and helpless on this motherhood journey. It will leave you without wisdom and discernment to raise and guide your children. You are many times left clueless with no sense of purpose in your journey of building lives and shaping destinies.
But when you choose to embrace God as a mother, it is no longer about who you were and who you even are. It is rather now about God who lives in you and is calling you higher to a place of purpose.
God is calling you higher into his plan of building lives and destinies
You are no longer bound by your past mistakes, wrong mindsets and limitations. There is a new consciousness of the life of Christ alive in you. He came to set you free from every pain, addiction, limitation. Moreover, when God takes the wheel in your life, motherhood becomes a ministry and an altar of service. It is no longer about ‘I’ but about God who lives inside you.
Will you let go of the ‘I’ in you today in your motherhood walk?
You can step out today in faith and embrace the greater one into your life and journey as a mother.
