Dear Mother – The Clock is Ticking Away

Dear Mother,

Award winning fashion model and entrepreneur, Iman Abdulmajid said this after her husband passed away.

“You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

Can you see how quickly those special moments with your little child has become a memory?

What are those memories you have in your heart right now?

Time they say waits for nobody, and on this journey of motherhood, the clock ticks faster than you will ever know.

Once upon a time, you had messy bums to wipe and hundreds of diapers to change.

Once upon a time, you sang midnight lullabies trying to soothe a crying baby.

Once upon a time, you lost sleep trying to calm a crying child who had a very high fever.

Once upon a time, you were exhausted chasing playing children with boundless energy.

Once upon a time, you sat and laughed at your child’s funny babbles and endless stories.

Once upon a time, there was just you and your little ones snuggled together and making sweet memories.

But time has taken away those moments and all that you have now are memories.

The moments are short but the memories will last you for a lifetime.

Did you know that you have this short time and space to fill up your children’s lives with special and worthy moments?

Here is what you can do with those moments as a mother.

Give your child valuable life lessons in those moments.

Teach your child about God and his word in those moments.

Show your child that you truly love and value them in those moments.

Plant seeds of hope and faith in those moments.

Help them discover who they are and what God has called them in those moments.

Share freely with them about your life and the lessons you have learnt in those moments.

Hold them close to your heart and tell them how much you love them in those moments.

Find time for them and give them all of your attention in those moments.

Teach them great values and counsel them wisely in those moments.

Embrace them and soothe their fears in those moments.

Encourage them when they fall and fail in those moments.

Celebrate them and tell them how proud you are of them in those moments.

Speak life-giving words to them in those moments.

Pray for them from the deepest parts of your heart in those moments.

Lead them through your life and actions in those moments.

Give them your heart, soul and all of you in those moments.

And I want you to always remember this,

The clock is fast ticking away on this journey of motherhood. You must use every second, minute and hour that comes your way to make deep impressions and great impact in your child’s life.

Time is the most valuable coin in your life. You and you alone will determine how that coin will be spent. Be careful that you do not let other people spend it for you.” Poet Carl Sandburg

Will you use this time in your hands to impact your child for a lifetime?
