Are You Rightly Positioned to Raise the Next Generation?

“How you are positioned will either expose you to danger or protect you from it.” Unknown

Are you rightly positioned as a mother to raise the next generation? When you are rightly positioned, you get to see through God’s eyes and get the right strategies and instructions on how to nurture and raise your children.

Can you remember how a photographer tries to get a perfect shot of you during a photo session? He changes his position often just to capture that ideal moment for your dream photograph. This is because, when he is rightly positioned, he will get a better and broader view of you. And in one moment, the lights are perfect and you as his muse comes alive breaking forth in smiles as he captures a treasured memory of you in time.

Sometimes, as a mother, there will be those moments where you feel like you are not well positioned in your parenting journey. You may feel like where you are is not where you ought to be on your journey of building lives and destinies. The good news is that you do not have to stay where you are, you can change your position to get a better and higher view on how to parent your children. More so, you can also change your position to be more in tune with God in your life and as a parent raising the next generation.

Bible Verses About Teaching The Next Generation

You are as a parent responsible for teaching the next generation and leading your children along God’s path for their lives. But until you are rightly positioned in God, there is not much you can do as a mother, father or guardian.

Charles Spurgeon said, “Let no Christian parents fall into the delusion that Sunday School is intended to ease them of their personal duties. The first and most natural condition of things is for Christian parents to train up their own children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

Deutoronomy 4:10 NLTNever forget the day when you stood before the LORD your God at Mount Sinai, where he told me, ‘Summon the people before me, and I will personally instruct them. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live, and they will teach their children to fear me also.

Psalm 78:4NLT : We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders.

Deuteronomy 11:19 NIV : Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Psalms 102:18-22: Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD: that he looked down from his holy height; from heaven the LORD looked at the earth, to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die, that they may declare in Zion the name of the LORD, and in Jerusalem his praise, when peoples gather together, and kingdoms, to worship the LORD.

Psalm 78: 5-6 : For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them, even the children not yet born and they in turn will teach their own children.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

What Happens When You Are Rightly Positioned as a Mother

Motherhood

Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.” Exodus 17:9

The Amalekites had come out against the children of Israel in battle, and something needed to be done fast to avoid defeat. Moses who happened to be the leader gives direction to Joshua on the next step to take. While he chooses to step away from the battleground and move up towards the hill. Moses changed his position to know the next step and strategy to take to secure victory against the enemy in the battle against God’s children. And that singular act by Moses changed the course of the battle.

3 Reasons Why You Need to be Rightly Positioned to Raise the Next Generation

1. Being rightly positioned gives you a clearer and broader view of the battlefield.

As mothers, there will be battles to fight as we nurture, raise and build up our children according to God’s plan and blueprint for their lives. There is a battle for the mind of your children, a battle for their sexuality and a battle for their purpose and God-given destiny. And until you can change your position to where God is and what he is doing, you will not be exposed to new ideas, strategies and plans to conquer as you raise the next generation.

2. Being rightly positioned keeps you in tune with God and builds intimacy with God.

Sometimes, the hassles and challenges of everyday life can make you take your eyes off God, who is your true source of strength and wisdom. So, when you change your position to align with God and what he wants to do in each season of your life, victory is assured. Moses went to the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in his hands and only then was he able to see the battle through the eyes of God. Being rightly positioned with God in your journey as a mother opens your heart to God’s wisdom and direction as you shape the minds of your children.

3. Being rightly positioned will always give you the higher advantage.

As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.” Exodus 17:11 NLT

Each time Moses held up the staff of God in his hands, they prevailed in battle. However, when his arms became tired and weak, the enemy had the advantage. As a mother, it is not just enough to change where you are, you need to be rightly positioned spiritually, mentally and emotionally to win the battles life will throw at you. God must be constantly held up high in your life and take his place as leader and shepherd of your life.

Moses was rightly positioned, that is why he knew what to do to put him at an advantage during battle. He understood that keeping God at the forefront was crucial to winning the battle. So, until you can find that spot in your life and journey as a mother, where God is held up high and given room to lead and guide you in every area of your life – the enemy will continue to have the advantage.

Bonus Point: You Need to be Rightly Positioned to Get the Right Support and Encouragement in Your Motherhood Journey

This was what Aaron and Hur did for Moses when his hands got weary. They held up his hands until they had the victory.

” Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle. Exodus 17:12-13

In conclusion, it is good to know this too. That as you walk this path of motherhood, remember to position yourself in the right places and among the right people to support and encourage you in your journey of raising the next generation.

Are you rightly positioned as a mother amongst those whom will build, support and challenge you as you nurture and raise your children?

How are you positioning yourself in God to be that mother who will build and raise the next generation according to God’s pattern?
