As a mom, do you ever feel like you are running a race without a finish line? Sometimes, motherhood can feel like an endless race . The dishes pile up, laundry stares at you, meals have to be made and the children want your attention. You feel lost, helpless and alone. And it feels like everyone around is thriving and achieving their dreams, while you are all alone trying to catch your breath at the end of each day.
As mothers, we do so much, like caring for children, managing the home, being present for our families, while trying to nurture our own spiritual lives. And yet, some days it feels like no matter how hard you try, you are always a step behind. You feel unseen, unheard and unappreciated.
I have been there too. When it looked like being a stay-at-home mom kept your whole life on hold. It felt like no matter how hard I was trying; I was not doing enough. My daily routine was predictable. Sometimes, I felt stuck and wondered about the future. I would often see stories of women my age thriving in business and career that left me feeling left behind. But the truth is, feeling behind does not mean you are failing or have no hope for a great future. Where you are currently is not where you will always be. The value you bring to the table in each season of life and the impact you make is what truly matters.
God sees your sacrifices, your late nights, your whispered prayers, your selfless giving and even your tears as a mom. And in those moments when you feel like you are not enough, or feel left behind, never let your fears or the enemy strip you of the blessings that God has prepared for you in that season.
Encouragement for the Mom Who Feels Behind
Dear mother, you are not behind in God’s eyes.
- You matter in God’s grand design and plan for your life.
- Your value is not in where you are but who you are.
- Your identity is not found in comparison with other moms but in God’s unique purpose for your life.
- Your story is being written and God will fit each piece of the puzzle per season.
God delights in your heart, your love, and the many unseen ways you serve your family. He is not asking for perfection, but for your presence and a servant’s heart. He is not looking at what you have not done, but at how much you will keep giving and serving in your current season of life.
Take a deep breath today and lay down all your fears before Him. And even when you feel “behind” on one of those days, I want you to know that you are right on time in God’s plan for your life. No season is wasted!
“ But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8
A Short Prayer for the Mom Who Feels Behind
Heavenly Father,
Today I ask that you give this mother the grace to trust in your faithfulness and plan for her life. Help her to break free from the comparison trap and may she fully embrace her God- given identity.
Lord, whenever she feels left behind, I ask that You open her eyes to see what you are doing in her and through her in this current season of life.
Teach her to slow down, to lean into Your strength, and to trust that You make all things beautiful in Your time. Make known to her the path of life and lead her by your hand with joy and peace. Fill her with wisdom to look forward with hope and to trust in your perfect plan for her life.
Amen!
Here are Some Scriptures to Hold Onto
- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
- “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
- “He makes everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11
A Final Word
If you feel behind today as a mom, remember that God has not abandoned you. He is holding your hand and His grace will cover you through each season. You are not behind. You are right where God wants you to be — held, loved, and carried by Him. God is already ahead of you, making a way and leading you into a beautiful future. Embrace your season with joy, faith and hope. Let God’s love carry you through this season as you keep trusting in his plan and purpose for your life.
