3 Quick Ways to Build Your Faith During a Storm

How do you build your faith amid life’s chaos and uncertainty? Who do you run to when the storms of life hit hard and leaves you unbalanced? Dear friend, let me share with you 3 quick ways to build your faith during a storm.

“ Let your life reflect the faith you have in God. Fear nothing and pray about everything. Be strong, trust God’s word and trust the process.” – Germany Kent

It is often so easy to slip into a state of hopelessness and despondency when life’s challenges come knocking. Think about a woman whose husband walks out on their marriage after years of giving and loving sacrificially. What about that mother who raised her child right getting a call that her child just committed suicide. Indeed, there are certain things that  happen in your life that can shake your faith in God.

Jesus himself said – “In this world, you will have trials and tribulations.”

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

But, what do you do when those hard and difficult seasons show up in your life? Will you succumb to your circumstances and begin to doubt God’s plan for your life? Or will you hang on and trust in the sovereignty of God and let him walk you through the storm.

God Will Carry You Through the Storm

Life is full of storms and as you journey through life, there will be moments when you will face the raging storms of life. Whether it is an illness, a financial crisis, a divorce, a devastating loss, a loved one battling an addiction or a child gone astray. These are storms people like you and I will be confronted with every single day.

Sometimes, it may even feel like you are moving from one storm to another in your life. But the question then is, will you let God carry you through the storm? Remember that God promises that he will still the storms in your life to a whisper.

God stilled the storm, calmed the waves, and he hushed the hurricane winds to only a whisper. – Psalm 107:29 TPT

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.- Isaiah 43:2

Jesus was asleep in a boat once when his disciples came running to him that there was a storm.  Read the conversation below.

When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was engulfed by the waves; but Jesus was sleeping.  The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”

You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him! – Matthew 8: 23-27

His disciples seeing how violent the storm was screamed out – Lord save us, we are perishing. Jesus replied – why are you so afraid? Jesus goes on to address the faith of his disciples. It was like him saying – God is with you in this storm. Why can’t you just trust him to carry you through the storm?

Your faith in God will remain your true anchor when walking through a storm in your life. And God wants you to build your faith, so much that even amid the storms of life, you remain calm while trusting in his unwavering love.

3 Quick Ways to Build Your Faith During a Storm

When you are struggling with your faith during a storm, the enemy will whisper words to you that are contrary to God’s word. Choose to cast down those thoughts and think of ways to build up your faith. Here are 3 quick ways to build your faith during a storm.

1. Call Out to God.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor me.- Psalm 50:15

I called on Your name, O Lord, Out of the lowest pit.- Lamentations 3:55

Remember Jesus disciples called out to God when they were faced with a violent storm. God wants you to call out to him in those difficult seasons of life. Spend time praying and meditating on his word.  He is ever ready to listen and hear you unburden your heart before him.

It is in the place of prayer that God’s light will flood you soul. When you can call out to God in your lowest moments, you will find encouragement and peace during the storm.

2. Declare God’s Word in Faith

“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:8-9

Is your heart full of God’s word? Remember that there is power in the spoken word of God. If you believe in the efficacy of God’s word, you will always speak it out in faith. When you speak and declare God’s word in faith, you are affirming the truth of God’s word over again to yourself.

Even in the midst of the storm, choose to build your faith by speaking out God’s word. Arm yourself with scriptures concerning your peculiar situation and declare God’s word concerning it.

3. Surround Yourself with Faith Builders

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Ecclesiastes 4:10

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Your relationship and circle of influence matters especially when you are going through hard seasons. There are people who will sink your faith with their presence, negative talk and energy.

You must be intentional about having people in your life who always build and stir up your faith. They come into your life to hold your hand and fan the fire of faith in your life. Detach yourself from faith sinkers and surround yourself with faith builders today. Everyone needs an encourager and faith builder when walking through life’s storm.
